The Kendrick family lived in the house longer than any other family. The family consisted of James and Rachel (husband and wife), and their three children, Olwen, James W., and Joan (pronounced Jo-Ahn). James initally rented the house in 1932, and then purchased it in 1939. The house was owned by Associates Realty from 1929 through 1939. It is unknown why Associates sold the house.
This is another family that we have found quite a bit about, to the delight of Nicole. Since moving into the house, Nicole has felt a closeness to one the past family members. After doing research on those who lived her, Nicole discovered it was Rachel Kendrick was the person who she sensed in the house. Amazingly, we were able to make contact with members of the previous owners, James and Rachel Kendrick.
Contact with James' Grandson was made in a very round about way. Research through census records provided the names of James' and Rachel's children. An internet search on the oldest daughter, Olwen, produced an article that was written by her nephew. Another internet search for him produced information showing where he was a professor at a prominent university in New York. On a chance, I sent him an e-mail. A few weeks later, I recieved a reply from his cousin. After a few phone calls and more e-mails, we were provided with information on the family.
Then, on April 11, 2009, we were honored to have for lunch Olwen (Kendrick) Braun. Her nephew (who lives in Kansas) came out to Colorado to celebrate her 101st Birthday. During his stay, he and his wife brought Olwen down from the Denver area to meet us, and revisit the house again. She told us stories about the house that could have never have been known. Here is a photograph of Nicole and David with Olwen on that day.
These are those who lived in our house. Since some of the Kendrick family are still alive, we are not putting all of the information we have about the family online to protect their privacy. We are sure that you will understand.
